A CWPP is just the first step towards a safer more resilient community. Bintel partners with counties, municipalities, fire districts, tribal nations, and land managers on CWPP development, wildfire risk assessment, and mitigation management. We focus on the collaboration, shared data, and decision-making processes that turn a CWPP into action plans for mitigation, suppression, and recovery.
From federally-recognized CWPPs to geospatial decision tools and cross-jurisdictional strategy. Everything communities need to move from plan to action.
Compliant CWPPs that unlock state and federal funding, satisfy regulatory requirements, and serve as long-term wildfire resilience roadmaps — delivered on time and on budget.
Post CWPP Support Services supplement client staff with grant writing, mitigation design/costing and management of mitigation projects. Our goal is to accelerate the execution and tracking of projects to prepare communities for a fire NOW.
The Custer County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) is a document created to help the county and fire agencies identify and strategize for the prevention and suppression of severe wildland fires. This plan outlines activities aimed at reducing the risk of catastrophic wildfire events within Custer County, ensuring the safety and welfare of its citizens.
Completed in nine months, the project included 2 CWPP updates and 3 new CWPPs for communities in Denali Borough Alaska. The plans were delivered to the Project Coordinator as separate community CWPPs that combine to create the Denali Borough CWPP. The areas included are the unincorporated communities of Healy, McKinley Village, Cantwell, other remote parts of the Borough, as well as the incorporated City of Anderson.
The Pacific County Washington Community Wildfire Protection Plan was a collaborative effort to reduce wildfire risks in the county. This plan involves identifying and treating hazardous fuels, improving defensible space around homes, and educating residents about wildfire preparedness.
The Arvada Colorado CWPP was a collaborative effort to reduce wildfire risks in the fire district. This plan involved identifying and treating hazardous fuels, improving defensible space around homes, and educating residents about wildfire preparedness.
The Borough of Fairbanks North Star Alaska Community Wildfire Protection Plan was a collaborative effort to reduce wildfire risks in the municipality. This plan involves identifying and treating hazardous fuels, improving defensible space around homes, and educating residents about wildfire preparedness.
The wildfire risk mitigation analysis project for Routt County Colorado successfully delivered a comprehensive evaluation of the 2023 Routt County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) focusing on projects where the County is the designated implementation lead. A team of Bintel and County representatives (the team) conducted a thorough review of the CWPP, assessed potential wildfire hazards across jurisdictional boundaries, and identified the most critical mitigation actions necessary to better ensure life safety, infrastructure protection, and community resilience. These were prioritized, designed and costed for their execution.
cwpp.us is Bintel's geospatial wildland fire planning platform. It gives government agencies, municipalities, and land managers a working spatial view of wildfire risk, community assets, and CWPP planning data — organized so the people responsible for a community's safety are looking at the same information.
Bintel includes training on our application for your core team. Our cloud native CWPP platform was originally developed as part of a project with Eagle County Colorado. The features are integrated with our services and include hosting data, documents and maps for community access.
Geospatial Data Governance
The data collected and created as part of a CWPP project has been treated as a onetime science project with the “300-page PDF” as the repository. At the very least this will result in an expensive and time-consuming project when an update is required. At most, the operational value of the effort is lost. Static maps are almost useless, our maps are all interactive and built with public domain basemaps. The data is curated and hosted for the five-year life of the CWPP.
Bintel GIS Platform
Our platform provides the core team and the public access to all maps to support a project. Our “living CWPP” is built to be used during the project, not a digital publishing afterthought. A client's URL on our platform can either be used standalone for community access or linked to the client’s website. Security for non-public information is provided by AWS SSO services through Microsoft or Google.
Situational specific maps can be generated for suppression response, remediation, or mitigation project tracking. Value-added services for our CWPP clients are facilitated through our platform.
