Map Description: Nature is constantly in motion, forcing humans to move with it.  Humans require a water source to survive and have settled along rivers, lakes, and oceans for thousands of years.  Waterways and railroads became critical means to move goods and people from one place to another.  This map of North America explores the relationship between where people live and early semi-permanent means of transportation between those places.  It has multiple layers so zoom in and out to view the different datasets.
