New Landing Page and Organizations

We have revamped the landing page to provide a more intuitive and user-friendly interface. Organizations now pop up directly on the map, making it easier for users to locate them and see what other mapmakers are doing in a given area. Users can look at their organizations, featured organizations, or public organizations. Reach out to your account admin to update the location of your organization.

Featured Organizations

Admins can showcase a subset of organizations as featured. This allows users to quickly access and explore a curated selection of organizations. Reach out to your account admin to request that your organization be advertised as a featured organization.

Public Organizations

In addition to featured organizations, we enable all users to view public organizations. This feature allows for a broader exploration of the organizations and data available which can be used making your own maps without starting from scratch.

Enhanced Organization Functionality

When you click on an organization, you can now view its maps simultaneously directly on the world map. The image and location are set when you take the map picture on the map page, giving you a preview of what to expect before diving in. Moreover, within the organization page, you will find a convenient "Go to Organization" button that takes you directly to the organization's homepage.

Improved Map Search Experience

By clicking on a map marker, you can now enjoy a large image preview of the map, allowing for a more detailed exploration. Additionally, we have added a "Go to Map" button, enabling you to navigate to the map directly with a single click.

Advanced Map Features

Our latest version introduces categorical data-driven styling options. With this enhancement, you can individually style the maps based on categorical columns in your data set. For example, you can assign different values to the "Fire Risk" column, such as high, medium, and low, and customize the representation accordingly. Please note that this feature is compatible with color and slider tools only.

We have also improved the display of raster layer icons, which now show a shrunken version of the tiff for better identification of the layer in the legend. Furthermore, setting the map image will orient the map to a pitch and bearing of 0, capturing the image from that angle.  There are also improvements to the map legend, compass styling and map title displayed now in the top left corner.

Infrastructure Speed Improvements

To ensure a smoother and faster experience, we have made significant improvements to our infrastructure. Our Frontend DevOps environment has been overhauled, moving from Vercel to a custom docker deployment. As a result, you can expect massively improved load times. Moreover, we have also enhanced our Backend tile server to significantly improve tile speed and reliability.

Mobile Optimization

Mobile optimization is a crucial aspect of any application in today's digital world. With the latest update, we are excited to introduce mobile optimization features that ensure a seamless user experience on smaller screens such as tablets and phones. Now, users can interact with Bintel Maps using all devices, allowing them to access and explore maps effortlessly, regardless of the screen size. This improvement enhances the accessibility and convenience of Bintel Maps, empowering users to make the most out of our platform.
